Joan Beltrán Bofill (aka Portada Noiquet) (1934-2009): An original illustration, believed for a Pulp Fiction style book cover. The design in watercolour and gouache on artists board (manner of Robert McGinnis), overlaid with tracing paper cover. Created c. 1960s. The artwork featuring female figure to foreground and two male figures to background. Signed “Noiquet” bearing vintage paper labels applied to reverse “Selecciones illustradas Nioquet 38DE”, width 27cm x height 35cm.

 

Joan Beltran Bofill (1934-2009) was a well-respected artist having studied at Real Academia Catalana de Bellas Artes de San Jorge, he principally produced works in the Impressionist style. Additional to this work Beltran Bofill produced commercial illustration, particularly for book covers, under the pseudonym Noiquet (or Portada Noiquet).

His most notable illustrations produced as Noiquet include several Pulp horror/ thriller books; the Spanish language covers for several Agatha Christie titles and the Sherlock Holmes series.
