A Gordon Russell Ltd. Utility “Double Helix” Sideboard, Designed by David Booth & Judith Ledeboer, in mahogany with Bombay rosewood doors, featuring routed “double helix” design revealing birch beneath, with original brass handles, interior with cutlery drawer, labelled to back with “Gordon Russell Limited, Broadway, Worcs.” label and additionally labelled “Supplied by Story, Kensington, London”.

The Utility sideboard was designed for the Festival of Britain and shown at the festival during 1951. An icon of mid-century design, this sideboard shows how stylish, elegant furniture was brought to the wider market by Gordon Russell Ltd. Storys department store were based on High Street Kensington, London until the 1960s.

Overall this sideboard is in good condition, there has been some minor restoration to the top to improve a scratch which is still partially visible and there is an additional scratches/ mark to the top.
