MID 20th CENTURY ILLUSTRATION ART: Artist Unknown – An original vintage illustration art concept executed circa 1940s. The design features stylised figures on a Georgian/ Regency street, possibly for an advertisement for Bath Oliver biscuits.

The painting is in ink and gouache on paper, mounted to artists board.

Dimensions: The board 43.75cm wide x 30.75cm high. The painting 37cm wide x 22cm high approximately.

The Artist

Unfortunately, we have been unable to identify the artist in this instance. It is possible this Regency street scene was designed by artist Beryl Johnson during the 1940s. Little information is available about her work, although this piece is similar to one for Bath Oliver Biscuits produced in 1944.
