The work bearing artist gallery label verso “Michael Ffolkes M.S.I.A, 186 Shaftsbury Avenue, WC2″ with title inscription ‘Balloon and City” and price ’25 guinea’, framed and mounted frame 15 x 20ins total size (artwork is 10 x 13in).

Michael Ffolkes was born Brian Davis, adopting his artistic name during the late 1940s. Ffolkes was famed for his work as an illustrator and cartoonist particularly for The Daily Telegraph on the Pete Semple column. He additionally produced work for Playboy Magazine, Punch, The Spectator, Private Eye, The New Yorker & Esquire.
