The Film

The Seven Year Itch is a classic 1950s romantic comedy, featuring that billowing white dress, one of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic scenes! The film was based on a play of the same name, however due to the Hays Code restricting movie content of the time, any physical relationship or reference to adultery between the two principle characters was removed. Despite this the film was still banned in Ireland.

Billy Wilder found Marilyn Monroe’s lateness to set extremely frustrating, despite this the two worked together on the legendary Some Like It Hot later the same decade.

Lobby Cards

Lobby cards were advertising cards, produced in the U.S, typically as sets of 8 to promote upcoming releases. Unlike posters, lobby cards use a smaller format (ordinarily 11 x 14 inches) and were printed for display in the lobby of a cinema (rather than the exterior), providing insight into key scenes from a coming attraction often with a title card, similar to the poster for the release.
