Vintage Illustration Art/ Mid Century Design: An original 1950s concept design painting believed for textiles or wallpaper, featuring repeating floral motif entitled “Moygashel”, possibly produced for the linen manufacturer, circa 1950s.

The design is painted in blue and white gouache and pencil on paper mounted on white paper. The painting features repeating floral and leaf motif. The mounting paper inscribed with possible artist name “Jean M. Freeman”, additionally inscribed “Moygashel, Size of repeat 4″ x 4″”

Dimensions: The painting itself 30.5cm wide x 20cm high, the mount sheet 34cm wide x 27cm high.

Moygashel

Moygashel is a town in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland famed for its long history of linen manufacturing. It is possible this design was created to be printed on such a linen.
