MID CENTURY DESIGN: A vintage John Piper ‘London Skyline’ coffee table. The table has a Formica top depicting London iconic landmarks. Manufactured circa 1960s. The base with black painted wooden shelf and metal legs.

Dimensions length 114cm x depth 38cm x height 35.5cm (45 x 15 x 14 inches)

 

This “John Piper – London Skyline” coffee table it is believed was produced by furniture manufacturer Myer, and retailed by Terence Conran (Habitat), during the 1960s. The John Piper design depicts famous London landmarks including St. Pauls Cathedral and St. Martin-in-the-Fields. The table design itself is often attributed Terence Conran.

John Piper (1903 – 1992) was an important British artist, designer and printmaker. His work often depicts the British landscape and in particular its churches and monuments. For more information on John Piper visit:

Condition Report: Overall in good condition, one original foot missing, some loosening to wood on underside of table top, base appears to have been repainted, formica in good condition overall with some light wear, colours still bright.
